Net Lake Trophys
What a sleeper of an area! Little to no hunting pressure, vast amounts of area in various stages of year growth, forest reproduction for good food source. Wow, you couldn’t have written a Whitetail Management Plan any better. No, there isn’t a wildlife management plan, it’s just plain circumstance. There is a certified state timber management plan which in turn creates good wildlife habitat. It also shows how you will eventually get your money back in 20 -25 years.
Our Net Lake Property is deeded property within the boundaries of the Net Lake Indian Reservation. (Somehow and I’m not quite sure as how or why there is a negative connotation associated with Indian Reservations). You cannot hunt on any land within the jurisdictional boundaries of the Reservation except on the land you own. There is no need to because you own 120 Acres. The majority of the land is owed by paper companies and very little land is privately held land. We actually purchased from a Native Family. One of the few private parcels held by Native peoples. Yes, some Indians do hunt but from our experience it is all along the highway or roads.
Our parcel is 1 mile off Highway 65 and has a potlatch property adjoining ours to the west and State and Federal land to the North. It was just harvested this past winter and will make our property become the bedding and safety area for the bucks that will be feeding and looking after the does feeding in the lush popular re-growth region.
It just doesn’t get any better! Now there is a stigma that goes with buying land within an Indian Reservation. People somehow have the idea that you cannot get clear title or something is wrong with the land. The fact is it is deeded Minnesota property, it just happens to lie within a jurisdictional boundary of an area where Indian people are allowed to govern themselves if they wish to. There are some Reservations lands but there are all types of ownerships of land within this jurisdictional area. You pay your taxes to Koochiching County and you buy a Minnesota hunting license. Its just the fact that the land lies within this area that somehow people think the land is different than other Minnesota properties and this is probably a good thing along with the fact there is very little to non available to purchase.
We have shot some real dandy bucks here and the area will continually keep getting better with the harvesting of timber. This is a rare find so if you are looking for a special place, do your due diligence and check this out. The price is cheap and having the opportunity to be able to buy is something you’ll appreciate for years to come once you have had the pleasure to hunt this remarkable piece of trophy whitetail land 30 minutes south of Littlefork, Minnesota. Good Hunting!
